Hi All,
Most of you will be aware that the Off-Road Track at Batley, is close to a small stream.
During extreme rain-fall this stream can flood.
This is exactly what has happened during this week.
At mid morning yesterday (Wed) the track area and much of the adjacent football-pitch was
under water.
By mid morning today (Thurs), the water vast majority of the water had drained and the track had
a number of 'puddles' similar to after a good shower of rain.
However, the football-pitch still had standing water on it.
Obviously the track is not in the usual pristine condition, as the river water has left silt and rubbish.
The Batley crew have been cleaning-up tonight and will continue work on the venue tomorrow (Fri).
So:-
1. Providing there are no large amounts of rain between now and Sat., the plan is to go ahead
with the event.
2. There will be NO caravans or cars allowed on the football pitch.
People are advised to use hotels rather than caravans, as they will be some distance from
the track alongside the leisure centre.
3. Pitting space will be limited to the high ground at the edge of the field.
CAN YOU ALL PLEASE SHARE TENTS IF POSSIBLE TO REDUCE THE AREA NEEDED.
4. Car parking space will be organised, but you may have to unload and park some distance
from track.
5. Mike Riley will be on hand to direct pitting/parking on Friday.
The Batley team have a lot of work to do, so we insist that you follow their instructions and
do not add to their work-load.
I am told that the river water has left an unpleasant smell, but I guess this will subside during
tomorrow.
The committee are keen that this event should go ahead and we ask for your full co-operation
given the circumstances.
I shall be in touch with the work party at the track late tomorrow morning.
If there is any change to the situation, I will mail you all.
If you do not receive any further mail from me, we will be holding the event as planned.
PLEASE PASS THIS INFORMATION TO ANYONE YOU KNOW THAT IS ENTERED AND
DOES NOT HAVE ELECTRONIC MAIL.
